Synchronous class attendance: This is a collaborative class and meeting as a group is necessary to share and discuss the results of our research as well as discuss and debate how what we find can be understood as socially engaged and as performance. That being said, some of the work will be done alone (6 hours of research on the web) in small groups (sharing results asynchronously among group members), and in group meetings (both inside and outside of class). The group meetings outside of class can be determined by the group members. But if you cannot meet at the appointed class time, this class will not be viable for you.
Class participation. This is an unprecedented semester and handling it perfectly is hardly an option in the best of times. I expect that people will fall behind – if so, do your best to communicate that to your classmates, especially your group members, TA and instructor. Hopefully other members of the group can compensate and then figure out a way for you to submit work and have it be considered. There will be no penalty for doing that if you just let people know in advance. Because this class is so dependent on collaboration, it has been created with the capacity for others to take up slack when needed if we can keep in touch with one another.
